Creativity and Connection

We all have a side to us that wants to talk, vibe, chill, create and communicate. Making art - of whatever kind you choose - can be cathartic, refreshing, exhausting, fulfilling, purifying.

It is HUMAN to create. But not only that, we can say things with art when words to fail us.

Or maybe it is just too uncomfortable to say what we want or need to say. This is when we can express our thoughts and feelings, our observations and insights using paint, paper, crayons, metal, wood, heat, yarn, poetry (and yes, yes, I know poetry uses words), music, upcycled items (think trash to treasure, outsider art, and altered books!). So many more mediums.

Really, your life itself is poetry. It is art. Maybe it’s wabi sabi, maybe it’s a da Vinci.

(And, speaking of, if you like Leonardo at all, I’ve got a fun book for you. Check it out.)

Creativity can be connection to the outer world through various mediums as a method of communication. But Creativity is also a connection to self. It bonds with your awareness. We are forced daily to try to organize outlives and comprehend all that is happening with the world around us. This all exists in the conscious mind. Our subconscious mind exists also. There is a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that exists there. How do we access it? How do we allow it to emerge from all of the suppression that accumulated from our work to control our lives? Giving yourself permission to create. Giving yourself permission to forgive and be forgiving. Giving yourself permission to love and be vulnerable. Giving yourself to create boundaries you need so you can have the personal space to think, to be, to create and connect with all that is you.
